How long have you been a DJ for An Ultimate Sound and a little of your history?
I have been a DJ with An Ultimate Sound since 2000. Prior to that, I Dj’d many parties in East Lansing while attending Michigan State University. Music has always been a passion of mine and I view performing at weddings and other venues as a privilege rather than a job. Thankfully, being a DJ has not only justified the ridiculous amount of money I spent on CD’s, but it has also provided me an outlet to share my love of music with others.
Why do you DJ?
What makes a good DJ is not necessarily his ability to perform in front of a crowd, but rather his ability to recognize when others are having a good time and his innate understanding of how to coax that party atmosphere. I am well rounded in the many genres and subgenres that represent the state of music today. I cater each reception toward the bride and groom and the guests in attendance. I play what you want to hear and not what you always hear (unless, of course, that’s what you want).
What are your strengths as a DJ?
I treat every wedding reception as if it was my own, in that I want everything to go perfectly for you. I want everyone to have a great time, and nothing satisfies me more than to hear people go up to the bride and groom after the reception to tell them how much fun they had.
What else should I know about you?
I graduated from MSU in 1999 with a degree in Communications. In addition to DJ’ing for the past 6 years, I am also the owner of a residential home appraisal company. When I am not working… my time is spent exercising, watching movies, and hanging out with friends. I listen to a little bit of everything when it comes to music; however, I am partial to Prince, and Stevie Wonder.
